-- The scenarios are used to cope with severe weather

SHIJIAZHUANG, China Nov 5 /AsiaNet=연합뉴스/-- "The 15 substations, including the 110kV Liuzhuang and 220kV Jiazhuang substations, are expected to be affected by gale-force winds around 11 o'clock. Please take preventive measures in advance." On October 13, employees of the substation operation and maintenance center of Xingtai Power Supply Company in Hebei used the "grid map" centralized monitoring application scenario of substations to identify in advance the substations that might be affected by gale-force winds, and issued special inspection work orders to frontline operation and maintenance personnel to remind them to prepare for the response work in advance.

"In the past, the operation and maintenance management of substations was relatively passive in the face of severe weather such as heavy rainfall, gale-force winds, and persistent high temperatures. For example, in the case of heavy rainfall, we could use the smart grid dispatching and control system to view abnormal alarm information from substations, and we could also see the situation of water accumulation within the station through monitoring equipment. However, we were unable to combine this information with power grid structure information and geographic information, and we were even less able to predict the trend of water accumulation within the station," explained Kong Longtao, a monitoring attendant at the substation operation and maintenance center of Xingtai Power Supply Company.

To address this issue, State Grid Hebei Electric Power Company Limited has developed a centralized monitoring application scenario for substations based on information such as the power grid structure and equipment locations within the "grid map," as well as integrating real-time weather conditions, forecasts, and warnings from the enterprise-level meteorological data service center. This application scenario can issue early warnings for substations that may be affected before severe weather arrives, monitor real-time rainfall data and water accumulation situations in various regions during severe weather, provide data support for special inspections, and assist operation and maintenance personnel in formulating response measures.

Relying on this application scenario, during the peak electricity usage period this summer, the company analyzed signals such as abnormal thermostat alarms, ultra-high temperature air-conditioning alarms, and excessive main transformer temperature alarms, based on substation protection signals and combined with historical high temperature data from the enterprise-level meteorological data service center. They explored the patterns of changes in equipment protection signals under high temperature conditions, predicted potential equipment risks and hazards in advance, and took corresponding disposal measures. As of now, based on the early warnings issued by this application scenario, Xingtai Power Supply Company has conducted over 360 special inspections and discovered and handled over 280 potential safety hazards of equipment.
