LINSHU, China August 20, 2024 /AsiaNet=연합뉴스/-- Expert free consultations, moxibustion and massage experiences, health tea tastings, and traditional Chinese medicine knowledge quizzes... Recently, the distinctive "Traditional Chinese Medicine Cultural Night Market" opened at the Cultural Square in Linshu County, Linyi City, Shandong Province, attracting large crowds drawn by the fragrant aromas of herbal medicine.

The event showcased elements of traditional Chinese medicine everywhere. From ancient acupuncture models to exquisite herbal specimens, and from herbal teas to health exercises, each activity was infused with the wisdom and charm of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). The venue also featured different areas where attendees could learn about herbs, taste medicinal teas, consult renowned doctors, participate in riddles, and practice the Baduanjin (one of the most ancient forms of Chinese qigong), allowing them to fully experience the profound culture of TCM.

In the TCM expert free consultation area, local renowned TCM specialists and clinical doctors turned into "night market vendors" to provide free consultations, answer questions, and offer health advice. In the interactive experience zone, staff offered free services such as Sanfu plaster, ear acupressure, moxibustion, gua sha massage, bamboo cupping, and TCM beauty techniques. They guided participants in making herbal sachets while explaining the underlying TCM theories. The herbal tea area featured complimentary specialties like sour plum soup and Four Treasures Tea, allowing people to savor the rich flavors of herbal medicine. In the TCM constitution identification area, professional doctors conducted constitution tests for citizens while explaining TCM theories and offering tailored health advice. Healthcare personnel also led the participants in practicing traditional health exercises like the Baduanjin and Tai Chi, and expounded the TCM principles behind them.

"I used to think TCM was just about treating illnesses and taking medicine. Today, I learned that TCM culture is extensive and profound, encompassing health maintenance, diet, exercise, and more. This night market event is fantastic, and I hope there will be more like it in the future," said a college student who returned home during the summer vacation. Through informative presentations by professional teams, many citizens changed their perceptions of TCM, realizing it is not just about treating ailments but comprises a comprehensive system involving health maintenance, diet, exercise, and more.

The Traditional Chinese Medicine Cultural Night Market provided a grand showcase of TCM culture, allowing more people to understand TCM and health concepts, enhancing the public's health literacy in TCM and enriching their cultural life.
