(제네바 및 파리 2021년 9월 18일 PRNewswire=연합뉴스) 아동 학대를 근절하고자 구성된 세계 최초의 글로벌 단체 #WeToo가 오늘 출범했다. #WeToo는 세계적으로 증가하는 아동 학대 문제를 해결하기 위해 자금을 모으고, 아동 학대 문제에 대한 인식을 높이기 위해 주요 기업과 개인의 참여를 촉구한다.

유니세프(UNICEF)와 세계보건기구(WHO)에 따르면, 유럽에서는 매년 5천500만 명의 아동이, 그리고 세계적으로는 약 10억 명의 아동이 신체적, 성적, 또는 심리적 학대나 방치를 당한다고 한다. 전 세계적으로 학대 받는 아동의 수는 유럽 인구보다도 많다.

정부는 물론 유니세프 같은 NGO도 아동 학대 문제를 해결하고자 큰 노력을 기울였지만, 아동 학대는 계속 증가하고 있으며, 심지어 코로나 팬데믹으로 인해 더욱 악화되고 있다. #WeToo의 목적은 아동 학대를 종식시키는 노력에 민간 부문의 역동성과 자원을 투입하는 것이다.

#WeToo는 다음과 같은 세 가지 방식으로 일을 추진할 계획이다.

1. 자금 조달: 아동 학대와의 전쟁은 현재 자금이 부족한 상태다. 개인과 주요 기업이 이를 해결하는 데 기여할 수 있다.

2. 효과적인 분배: 자금을 모으는 것만으로 충분하지 않다. 가장 효과적이고 신속하게 자금을 사용할 수 있는 사람들에게 분배해야 한다. #WeToo 전문위원회는 영향력과 질에 따라 세계 곳곳에서 자금을 분배할 프로젝트를 선정할 예정이다. 6개월마다 모든 기부금을 분배하고, 모니터링하며, 이를 투명하게 검토한다. 이정표를 적시에 달성할 수 있도록, Concordium의 최신 블록체인 기술을 통해 중간 검토도 진행한다.

3. 행동을 위한 캠페인: 문제뿐만 아니라 해결책에 대한 인식을 높이기 위해 최선을 다한다. 아동 학대가 더 높은 공공 안건 순위가 될수록, 정부를 포함해 사회 전체가 행동할 확률이 높아진다.

#WeToo의 첫 행사는 내달 16일에 열릴 예정이다. Stewart Gilchrist and Friends가 세계적인 DJ가 참여하는 요가 행사를 열고, 히말라야, 런던, 파리, 발리, 코펜하겐, 상하이 및 뉴욕에서 세션이 진행될 예정이다.

#WeToo launches movement to bring leading businesses and individuals into the fight against child abuse

GENEVA and PARIS, Sept. 17, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- #WeToo, the world's first global organisation to eradicate child abuse, launches today. It will bring together leading businesses and individuals to raise funds and awareness to help tackle the growing abuse of children worldwide.

UNICEF and the World Health Organisation estimate that every year 55 million children in Europe - and about a billion worldwide - are the victims of physical, sexual, or psychological abuse or neglect. That is more children than the population of Europe being abused globally.

While both governments and NGOs such as UNICEF have done much to tackle child abuse, the problem is still growing, made worse by the COVID pandemic. #WeToo aims to bring the private sector's dynamism and resources into the work of ending child abuse.

It will do so in three ways:

1. Raise money: the fight against child abuse is under-funded. Individuals and leading businesses can help correct that.

2. Distribute effectively: it is not enough just to raise money; we also need to get it to those who can use it most effectively and quickly. The #WeToo expert committee will choose projects to fund worldwide according to impact and quality. All donations will be distributed, monitored and publicly reviewed every 6 months with interim reviews to ensure milestones are achieved on time by use of the latest blockchain technology from Concordium.

3. Campaign for action: we, too, can do our best raise awareness of not just the problem, but also the solution. The further up the public agenda child abuse goes, the more likely that society, including governments, is to act.

The movement's first event takes place on October 16, 2021, with a global DJ'ed yoga event hosted by Stewart Gilchrist and Friends, with sessions being held in the Himalayas, London, Paris, Bali, Copenhagen, Shanghai and New York.
