Doyoung, Jaehyun and Jungwoo from boy band NCT will form a subunit, according to SM Entertainment on Thursday.

SM Entertainment confirmed with the Korea JoongAng Daily that Doyoung, Jaehyun and Jungwoo are currently in preparation for their first subunit debut album.

“We will reveal the release date [for the debut album] when it is confirmed,” the agency said.

Local media reported on Thursday that the upcoming subunit will be the first fixed-member subunit from the boy band.

The three members, known as DoJaeJung from the first syllable of each member’s name, performed an unreleased track “Can We Go Back” during the NCT 127 concert “Neo City: Seoul – The Link +” last October. The trio also released a “Christmas Carol Medley” on YouTube on Christmas last year.

Boy band NCT 127 released a repackaged version of its fourth full-length album titled "Ay-Yo" on Jan. 30, selling more than 900,000 albums in the first week of its release.
