SNT Energy acquires original boiler technology from U.S. company Hamon Deltak

South Korean midsized machinery company SNT Energy has acquired original technology on eco-friendly boilers from U.S. company Hamon Deltak to enter the global market.

According to SNT Energy on Tuesday, it acquired the basic design programs and intellectual property rights for U.S. thermal machinery company Hamon Deltak¡¯s heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs), waste heat boilers (WHBs), and once-through boilers (OTB).

The HRSG is an equipment used to generate steam by recovering heat from hot gas streams of a gas turbine or to drive a steam turbine for power generation. HRSG is considered to be eco-friendly because it increases the efficiency of thermal power plants while producing minimal carbon dioxide emissions.

WTBs are designed to harness hot waste heat from productions such as furnaces and incinerators to generate steam and hot water.

The OTB is a highly efficient boiler that uses tubes to produce steam at high pressures and temperatures.

The technology acquired is the IP for the source code, data, and information technology for Train Computer Aided Performance (TCAP), a software that is necessary for the basic design of the technology behind the three boilers.

SNT Energy first formed a partnership with Hamon Deltak, one of the top 3 HRSG makers in the U.S., in 1988.

With the technology acquisition, SNT Energy will be able to save licensing costs as well as secure its own HRSG design, the ability to carry out turnkey projects in the global market, and the foundation to enter the WHB and OTB markets.

SNT Energy currently designs and manufactures products such as HRSGs, air-cooled heat exchangers for liquified natural gas (LNG) and petrochemicals, condensers, and selective catalytic reduction (SCRs) to supply them to domestic and overseas markets.
