Michael Jeffrey Jordan, who was born on 17 February 1963 in Brooklyn, New York, USA, will celebrate his 50th birthday on 17 February 2013. Jordan, also known by his initials MJ, became the most decorated NBA basketball player with five regular season MVP's and three All-Star MVP's. After joining the Chicago Bulls in 1984 his performance in the NBA earned him the nicknames 'Air Jordan' and 'His Airness'. He won six NBA championship titles and two Olympic gold medals with the US basketball team in 1984 and 1992. After retiring from his active career in 2003, Jordan became the majority owner of the Charlotte Bobcats in 2010 and serves as the team's chairman.
