Manchester United signs Portuguese player Bebe

Manchester United announced on 18 August 2010 that they have signed 20-year-old Portuguese player Tiago Manuel Dias Correia, known as 'Bebe', who became United's third recruit of the offseason last week when he joined the Premier League side from Portuguese club Vitoria Guimaraes for 7 million pounds (8.5 million euro; 11 million US dollars). Bebe was homeless as a child, until he was taken in by an orphanage at the age of 10, reports said. After proving his soccer skills on the street, Bebe went on to represent his country in the Homeless World Cup, an international competition played by homeless athletes.
