epa11606365 Traditional stilt fighters take part during the golden stilt joust, in Namur, Belgium, 15 September 2024. About fifty people participated in two teams of costumed stilt wearers who are attempting to knock each other to the ground in a tradition dating back to the early fifteenth century. The weakest players are eliminated gradually until the 'Bout-a-tot' in which the remaining jousters turn against each other to designate the final winner. In the Namur stilt fighting, the only rule is that a fallen player cannot get back onto their stilts. UNESCO in 2021 recognized Namur stilt jousting on List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. EPA/OLIVIER HOSLET
