WKF: YouTube stars to host livestream programs to blend entertainment with knowledge

YouTube stars will offer commentaries and coverage of Asia’s largest annual business agenda event World Knowledge Forum available to subscribed audiences online during its Sept. 16-18 run.

Maekyung Media Group will operate online digital studio to live-stream the 21st World Knowledge Forum sessions from forum venue Shilla Hotel in central Seoul.

The broadcasting service was added this year to invite more public and homebound audiences around the world to the brain-storming event devoted to the pandemic crisis and solutions.

YouTube stars will be broadcasting the sessions to add entertainment to the otherwise serious themes.

Sampro TV and Super Retail Kim Jung-hwan, YouTubers in economy field, will join the studio together with Gomong, a YouTuber in film with 1.11 million subscribers, Choi Hyung-wook, chief executive of innovation design company Life Square, and film critic Yoon Sung-eun.

Sampro TV with 700,000 subscribers is Korea’s popular economy YouTube channel managed by three influencers Kim Dong-hwan, head of Alternative Economic Research Institute, former journalist Lee Jin-woo, and Jung Young-jin, winner of KBS quiz program 1 vs. 100.

Sampro TV members will comment on a session to be presented by “Conversation with Theresa May,” the 76th Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, which will take place from 9 a.m. to 9:50 a.m. on Sept. 1. They will also comment after A Fireside Chat with John Hennessy, chairman of Alphabet from 9:50 a.m. to 10:40 a.m.

Film critic Yoon and YouTube creator Gomong will speak on an open session “How Science, AI, and Quantum Entanglement Have and Could Change Content” from 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Life Square CEO Choi, an innovative strategist, will comment on two open sessions – “Transformation from an Airline to a Platform Business focusing on Travel & Lifestyle” led by Tony Fernandes, chief executive of AirAsia Group, as speaker from 3:20 p.m., and “Digital Social Innovation” led by Cedric O, France’s minister of State for Digital Affairs from 2:30 p.m.

YouTuber on stock investment Kim will give an explanatory on “Crisis-Turned-Opportunity Innovation & Social Integration” led by Seo Jung-jin, chairman of Celltrion, as speaker from 3:50 p.m.

Under the title of “Pandemics Perspective: Shaping New Global Symbiosis,” the opening ceremony and open sessions of 21st World Knowledge Forum from September 16 to 18 will be live-streamed via YouTube and Twitter.
