Hyundai Motor Company said Monday it sold a total of 4,138,180 vehicles worldwide in 2025, down 0.1 percent from a year earlier, as gains in the domestic market were offset by a slight decline in overseas sales.

Domestic sales rose 1.1 percent year on year to 712,954 units, supported by steady demand across sedans, recreational vehicles and the Genesis lineup, the company said.

Sedan sales totaled 208,626 units, led by the Avante, Grandeur and Sonata. Recreational vehicles accounted for 263,987 units, driven by strong demand for models such as the Palisade, Santa Fe, Tucson, Kona and Casper.

Commercial vehicle sales, centered on the Porter and Staria, reached 121,946 units, while Genesis-brand vehicles posted sales of 118,395 units, with the G80, GV80 and GV70 among the top performers.

Overseas sales fell 0.3 percent from 2024 to 3,425,226 units. Hyundai Motor said it maintained competitiveness in major markets despite rising tariff burdens, shifts in the global trade environment and slowing demand, largely by increasing the share of eco-friendly vehicles in its sales mix.

The automaker added that it focused on improving its sales mix by expanding electrified and high value-added models, particularly in North America and Europe.

The automaker plans to strengthen profitability-focused operations in 2026 by launching new eco-friendly powertrain models, bringing new production bases online and responding flexibly to regional market changes. The company set a sales target of 4,158,300 vehicles, including 700,000 units in South Korea and 3,458,300 units overseas.

“While 2025 was marked by a convergence of internal and external management risks, we strengthened our position in key global markets through an expanded eco-friendly vehicle lineup,” a Hyundai official said. “We will continue to build customer trust by enhancing product competitiveness and local production and supply capabilities.”
