‘Abeille Royale Bee Lab Shot’. (Genewel)
Genewel Co., a bio and healthcare unit of Dongsung Chemical Co., said Wednesday that its freeze-drying technology for medical devices has been adopted by French beauty brand La Maison Guerlain for its new anti-aging line, Abeille Royale Bee Lab Shot.

The product, which debuted in France in July, is now being sold across Europe and Asia.

The technology builds on Genewel’s high-polymer biomaterial manufacturing process, previously used in medical devices such as its tissue-repair product Matigen.

Using this expertise, the company developed a formulation that preserves high concentrations of active ingredients, including black bee honey and vitamin C derivatives, to help deliver them effectively to the skin.

Genewel said it will continue applying its medical device technologies to cosmetics to boost its global competitiveness. The company recently signed a supply agreement with a leading Swiss dermatology firm to provide hydrocolloid patches for skin care.

The patches, already distributed in Australia, the U.K., and Germany in the first half of the year, will be shipped to the U.S. and Asia in the second half.

“Based on our collaboration with a major global brand, we will accelerate our expansion into overseas cosmetics markets,” said the company’s Chief Executive Officer Han Sang-deok.
