[News Today] Over half of top admin systems restored

It's now the sixth day since the fire at the National Information Resources Service caused a major government system outage. Overall restoration is still in the 10% range, but more than half of the top-priority gov't administrative services are now back online.

Mr. Yoo is a subcontractor for a construction project commissioned by a public agency.

He was worried that he might not get paid before the holiday, but he just received the payment.

The government service that oversees subcontractor payment was restored on Tuesday from the fire damage at the National Information Resources Service.

I thought we wouldn’t get paid before Chuseok holiday if the computer system was still down. But, luckily, we got paid.

So far, 99 government administrative systems, including the subcontractor payment guarantee program, have been restored. The restoration rate still remains at just over 15%.

However, 21 of 38 grade one systems with a high number of users are back online. The government is fixing Grade 1 systems first to lessen public inconvenience.

There are nine computer rooms from the second to fifth floors of the NIRS data center in Daejeon.

The three data processing rooms on the fifth floor where the fire started housed 330 systems, 51% of the total.

Systems on floors 2–4 are restarting. Most on the 5th floor should resume after ash removal, except the 7-1 data room.

The government said that some systems would take more time to be restored since they are wired to several different agencies.
