Fruit and beef remain the most popular gift sets for Chuseok, the upcoming Korean harvest festival, according to a recent survey conducted by the Korea Agro-Fisheries and Food Trade Corporation. The survey, held from Aug. 25-28, gathered responses from 3,000 participants regarding their planned gift set purchases and budgets.
Apples topped the list of preferred gift sets, selected by 17.3 percent of respondents, followed closely by assorted fruit gift sets at 17 percent. Beef ranked third with 15.8 percent, while health functional foods came in sixth at 4.8 percent. Notably, fruit gift sets moved up one spot from last year’s rankings, rising from third to second place.
This year, Koreans plan to spend an average of 160,000 won on Chuseok gifts. The largest proportion of respondents (31.7 percent) indicated a budget between 50,000 and 100,000 won, followed by 30.2 percent who plan to spend between 100,000 and 200,000 won.
In comparison, the average budget last year was slightly higher at 170,000 won, with the largest number falling into the 100,000 to 200,000 won bracket.
