Experience starlit journey through Gyeongbokgung this fall

The Korea Heritage Service and the Korea Heritage Agency will host the fall edition of the Gyeongbokgung Starlight Tour, Oct. 15 to Nov. 2.
The evening tours will take place Wednesday through Sunday in the northern area of Gyeongbokgung, a Joseon-era (1392-1910) royal palace located in Seoul’s Jongno District.
The exclusive nighttime program offers a guided exploration of the palace’s lesser-known northern quarters, typically closed to the public. Participants will enjoy a modern interpretation of a traditional 12-dish royal meal, doseok surasang, served in a traditional brass lunchbox, while taking in a live performance of traditional Korean arts.
Tours will operate twice nightly from 6:30 p.m. and 7:40 p.m., each lasting 110 minutes. A total of 1,140 visitors, 76 per day, will be selected through a lottery system.
New this fall is a tour of the Queen’s residence, the Gyotaejeon area, as well as free exploration of Geoncheonggung, Hyangwonjeong Pavilion and the royal granary. Visitors will also enjoy a small theatrical performance at the royal storage site, Janggo, and gain rare access to Jibokjae, a royal library.
Lottery entries will be accepted via www.ticketlink.co.kr from Wednesday at 2 p.m. to Sep. 30 at 11:59 p.m. Winners will be announced Oct. 2, with booking open from Oct. 3–7. Tickets cost 60,000 won per person and up to two can be reserved per winner. Remaining tickets go on sale Oct. 8.
Phone reservations are available for seniors older than 65, people with disabilities and national merit recipients.
