The 2015 European migrant crisis refers to a large-scale arrival of refugees and migrants, especially from the Middle East, to Europe. The crisis reached a peak in terms of public visibility, humanitarian challenges and political responses early September: 1 September, thousands of refugees were stranded at the Budapest?s Keleti railway station; 2 September, the photo of two-years old Alan Kurdi washed up on a Turkish beach became a powerful symbol of the crisis; 05 September, Germany and Austria jointly allowed refuges to cross their borders and apply for asylum. Angela Merkel?s decision to allow refugees into Germany marked a significant turning point, temporarily waiving the European Dublin Regulation.
