Since opening in 2012 as Seoul’s first full International Baccalaureate (IB) Continuum school, Dwight School Seoul has redefined success in a culture often focused on academic achievement. At Dwight, students as young as two to six years old are encouraged to lead their own inquiries through meaningful play that fosters cognitive, emotional, and physical development. The school’s planned expansion—both in infrastructure and curriculum—for the 2025–2026 academic year further underscores its commitment to enriching these foundational experiences.

Dwight’s Early Childhood Division (ECD) offers a research-based, inquiry-centered program rooted in purposeful play and student-led exploration. Within thoughtfully designed, welcoming spaces, young learners form meaningful connections with teachers, peers, and the broader community. Children build confidence and agency from an early age, forming relationships that empower them to take ownership of their learning paths.

At the core of Dwight’s curriculum is nature-based learning. Students engage directly with the natural world, sparking curiosity, encouraging reflection, and inspiring action. “I believe deeply in the importance of nurturing a sense of wonder, respect, and responsibility for our planet from an early age,” said Nicole Nel, Head of ECD. These experiences help cultivate compassionate, globally minded learners.

Through inquiry, children engage holistically across language, mathematics, science, the arts, physical education, and social education. Hands-on activities build critical thinking, fine and gross motor skills, communication, collaboration, and emotional regulation. “In our Early Childhood division, we deeply value each child’s wonder, curiosity, and freedom to explore. Our teachers invest time to see the world through each child’s eyes and tailor lessons to their unique developmental and learning needs,” Nel added.

This holistic framework also fosters self-awareness, empathy, and resilience, aligning closely with the IB Learner Profile. Students are not only set up for academic success but also become socially adept, creative, and adaptive individuals, ready to meet future challenges. Social-emotional learning (SEL) is seamlessly woven into daily activities, building key competencies such as self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.

“Dwight Seoul doesn’t just teach; they see each child as a whole, and they really care about each child,” a parent from the Dwight School Seoul community commented.

The school’s 200,000 square feet campus in Digital Media City features specialized art and science facilities including Makerspaces, a Bakerspace, drama and broadcast studios, sports complexes, a performing arts centre, a rooftop garden, and the award-winning Spark of Genius Centre library. The upcoming expansion for the 2025–2026 academic year will further deepen the school’s capacity to deliver immersive, future-focused education.

Dwight Seoul graduates consistently earn admission to top-tier universities worldwide, recognized not only for academic excellence but also for their creative resilience and global outlook. In contrast to Korea’s intense, hagwon-driven education model, Dwight offers a balanced approach that emphasizes mentorship, well-being, purposeful learning, and community engagement.

Dwight School Seoul is part of the prestigious Dwight Global Network and the Global School Group (GSG) based in Singapore. Its sister campuses in New York City, London, Shanghai, Dubai, Hanoi, Tokyo, Riyadh, and the Dwight Global Online School provide students with rich opportunities for cross-cultural collaboration and global learning.

As South Korea reexamines its traditional education paradigm, Dwight School Seoul presents a compelling alternative—one that places emotional intelligence, inclusion, creativity, and lifelong curiosity at the heart of true success.
