BTS member J-Hope cemented his presence as a solo artist by headlining Lollapalooza Berlin, one of the world’s top music festivals. The rapper took the final main stage at Berlin’s Olympiastadion around 3 a.m. KST on July 14, delivering a 90-minute set that brought the event to a spectacular close. An estimated number of 60,000 fans attended the festival, with crowds forming from the early morning hours. Chants of “J-Hope! BTS! J-Hope, we wanna party!” echoed throughout the venue even before the show began, proving the artist’s global popularity once again.

True to expectations, J-Hope had an attitude that enraptured the audience, performing 21 songs re-arranged with a live band. His high-energy choreography and stable vocals showcased his prowess as a “world-class performer.” As night fell, the stadium glowed with the light of ARMY Bombs—BTS’s official light sticks—while fireworks lit up the sky, amplifying J-Hope’s commanding stage presence. The crowd responded with deafening cheers, and many fans were visibly moved to tears.

J-Hope made a dramatic entrance on a lift, opening with “What If…” and “Pandora’s Box” from his first solo album “Jack in the Box.” “This is my second time at Lollapalooza,” he told the crowd. “Welcome to Round 2 of Hobipalooza! Are you ready to go crazy tonight? Let’s go!” he shouted, instantly igniting the crowd.

He then followed with tracks from his special album “HOPE ON THE STREET VOL.1,” including “on the street (solo version)” and “lock / unlock (with benny blanco, Nile Rodgers).” His sultry stage presence during “Killin’ It Girl (Solo Version)” drew enthusiastic cheers, and the crowd sang along in full to “MONA LISA.” During “Sweet Dreams (feat. Miguel) - FNZ Remix,” fans surprised him by holding up purple heart signs, creating a touching moment. When BTS group hits like “MIC Drop” and the “Dynamite (Tropical Remix) + Butter (Hotter Remix)” medley began, the energy in the stadium hit its peak. Fans sang along in Korean, creating a powerful and unified scene.

Toward the end of the show, J-Hope shared heartfelt remarks: “This year has been incredibly meaningful to me. Touring the world has made me so thankful. Ending it here with you feels like the perfect conclusion. Thank you again for joining me on this unforgettable journey. I love you all.”

Fans from around the world responded by shouting “saranghae” (“I love you” in Korean) and continued chanting “J-Hope, we wanna party!” even after the performance ended. J-Hope returned for an encore with “= (Equal Sign),” “Future,” and “NEURON (with Gaeko & YOON MIRAE)” —capping off the night with unrelenting energy.

This performance stood out as a reimagined version of his solo world tour “j-hope Tour ‘HOPE ON THE STAGE’ in SEOUL” tailored for the large outdoor venue. Signature stage elements like the platform lift were adapted to both the main and extended stage, while cube-shaped band platforms, dynamic visuals, immersive lighting, and special effects elevated the show’s overall impact.

Returning stronger after three years, J-Hope’s Hobipalooza proved exactly why he continues to be invited as a headliner at global festivals. He made history as the first Korean artist to headline the main stage at Lollapalooza Chicago back in 2022.
