In the world of craft, the "craftsman spirit," scored by dedication, attention to detail and skill, has long been a central value, playing an essential role in cultivating talent, innovation and creativity.

Yet, as trend-driven and visually striking works take center stage, the core spirit has slowly slipped from view.

Aiming to bring back authentic craftsmanship, the Yeol Korean Heritage Preservation Society is running an exhibition titled "The Heart of Craft" at Yeol Bukchonga, a cultural complex in Jongno-gu, central Seoul.

The exhibition, which runs from May 7 to June 10, is curated by renowned jewelry artist Kim Jung-hoo and showcases five craft artists who have put in time and dedicated craftsmanship to their works rather than following current trends.

The five artists are Koh Bo-hyung, who majors in metal craft; Kim Shin-ryeong, an artist who explores the idea that what we see may not always reflect reality through metals and jewelry; Kim Joon-yong, a glass artist who crafts works inspired by nature; Shin Myoung-duk, who creates pieces that express the natural beauty, texture and character of wood; and Cho Jang-hyun, who uses traditional Goryeo Kingdom (918-1392) celadon pottery techniques.

The exhibition is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. It will be closed June 3 and June 6. Admission is free.
