Jennie is seen in her new music video "Seoul City" released on Sunday (Odd Atelier)

Jennie of Blackpink is rewriting the rules of K-pop promotion with her debut solo LP “Ruby,” unveiling an unprecedented seven music videos for tracks from the album.

The singer, Sunday, released a new music video for her B-side track “Seoul City” through her official YouTube channel and social media platforms. With this release, Jennie has now released music videos for nearly half of the album’s 15 tracks — a first among K-pop artists.

Typically, K-pop artists release two or three music videos, primarily for lead singles, due to the high cost of video production and promotional expenses. Jennie’s extensive video rollout sets a new benchmark for album promotions in the K-pop industry.

“Seoul City” is a love letter to Seoul, with Jennie contributing to both the lyrics and composition. The track celebrates the city’s magical charm, describing Seoul as the most precious place in the singer’s heart.

The accompanying music video captures the dreamlike beauty of Seoul, featuring Jennie immersed in the city’s vibrant spirit, further enhancing the song’s nostalgic atmosphere.

Earlier, Jennie captivated global audiences with her performances at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, one of the largest music festivals in the US, on April 13 and 20. She made history as the first solo K-pop artist to perform on Coachella’s major Outdoor Theatre stage.

Jennie has also achieved major milestones with “Ruby.”

The album recorded the highest first-week album sales for a K-pop female solo artist this year, selling 661,130 copies.

Three tracks — “Like Jennie,” “Handlebars” (featuring Dua Lipa), and “ExtraL” (featuring Doechii) — charted simultaneously on the Billboard Hot 100 chart dated March 22, making her the first K-pop female soloist to achieve the feat.

“Ruby” also debuted at No. 3 on the UK Official Albums Chart, setting a new record for a solo female K-pop artist.
