BTS (Big Hit Music)

BTS has added another 500 million-stream song to its discography on Spotify, the world’s largest music streaming platform.

According to Spotify’s chart on Tuesday, “Idol,” the main track from BTS' 2018 repackaged album "Love Yourself: Answer," became the group's 15th track to reach the 500 million-stream milestone.

“Idol” is a vibrant track that blends South African Kwaito music with traditional Korean rhythms and chants, layered over EDM and trap grooves.

Upon release, the song gained global popularity, debuting at No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 21 on the UK Official Singles Chart. In 2022, it was certified Platinum in the streaming category by the Recording Industry Association of Japan. A song must accumulate at least 100 million streams to be certified Platinum.

Meanwhile, the alternate version of the track, “Idol (Feat. Nicki Minaj),” is also approaching a major milestone, with nearly 190 million streams on Spotify to date.
