Service on Seoul's subway line No. 2 was fully resumed at around 5:35 p.m. Sunday after being suspended for nearly 10 hours due to a train car derailment at Sindorim Station in western Seoul.

On Sunday, metro operations from Hongik University Station in western Seoul to Seoul National University Station in southern Seoul were suspended for nine hours and 40 minutes when a car from a 10-car train derailed at around 7:50 a.m., according to Seoul Metro, the city’s subway operator.

No casualties were reported in the derailment.

Clockwise-direction metro operations of Line No. 2 — including travel from Seoul National University Station to Hongik University Station — continued to operate as scheduled, with buses provided for affected passengers.

Train operations between Kkachisan Station in western Seoul and Sindorim Station on Line No. 2 were also temporarily suspended from 10:17 a.m. to 10:35 a.m. due to a power outage. Although it was originally reported that a collision with a buffer stop on the track caused the derailment, the JoongAng Ilbo later reported that the train passed by the traffic signal informing it to stop and derailed afterward.

Update, March 23: Updated service resumption, lede changed.
