Six-member group becomes the first K-pop girl group to appear on NPR Music's main YouTube channel
Nmixx (JYP Entertainment)

Girl group Nmixx has set a milestone, becoming the first K-pop girl group to be featured on NPR Music's main YouTube channel with its "Tiny Desk Korea" performance.

"Tiny Desk Korea" is a live performance content series featuring musicians and bands. officially licensed by NPR (National Public Radio), the renowned American public radio network behind the original "Tiny Desk Concerts."

The series captures the raw essence of live music with a single-take recording, free from additional sound effects or mixing, emphasizing the singers' authentic voices and the intimate atmosphere of the performance.

Nmixx's "Tiny Desk Korea" video was originally uploaded in September 2024, showcasing the members' impressive vocal skills and unique tones. The group performed signature tracks such as "Love Me Like This," "Run For Roses," and "Dash" without in-ear monitors, relying solely on a live band.

On Monday, approximately four months after the live performance, NPR Music uploaded the video to its main YouTube channel, making Nmixx the first-ever K-pop girl group to have its "Tiny Desk Korea" performance featured on the platform.

"Nmixx is not just another South Korean girl group. These talented ladies are accomplished singers who performed this 26-minute set in one take and without sound reinforcement wedges that musicians traditionally use to hear themselves better," NPR Music said in its video description.

The comment section reflects a mix of reactions -- from proud fans celebrating the group's achievement to viewers whose perceptions of K-pop were transformed by the performance.

"I’m not a fan of K-pop, but this has changed my perspective," wrote one YouTube user. Another commented, "Hearing Nmixx's voices resonate on NPR Music's main channel makes me incredibly proud as a fan."
