Protesters took control of the parliament, government and presidential administration of Abkhazia

The opposition that seized the government building complex demand the resignation of the current President of the country Aslan Bzhania. The Parliament of Abkhazia had previously planned a meeting on the ratification of the agreement with Russia concerning the implementation of investment projects by Russian companies in the republic, which the opposition claim will harm Abkhazia. Abkhazia is a breakaway territory which was part of Georgia until 2008, and it is currently recognized by a minority of world countries, including Russia. EPA/STRINGER
