Protesters cut off access to border with South Africa over election results in Mozambique

The National Electoral Commission (CNE) on 24 October released the results of the general tabulation of the 09 October elections - presidential, legislative and provincial assemblies - announcing the victory of the ruling party Mozambique Liberation Front (Frelimo) with 11 more seats in parliament. Frelimo's presidential candidate, Daniel Chapo, who was elected with 70.67 percent of the votes, will succeed incumbent president President Filipe Nyusi.
