Hyundai Mobis unveils 22 new vehicle module technologies

Hyundai Mobis Co. has introduced a new flat spring suspension system made with lightweight polymer composite materials, aiming to enhance vehicle comfort and reduce chassis weight.

The company held a New Module Technology Achievement Sharing Event at its research center in Uiwang, Gyeonggi Province, on Monday, where it showcased R&D advancements in its three core modules - chassis, cockpit, and front-end assembly - to its customers and suppliers.

The event allowed Hyundai Mobis to present 22 new technologies under development, with 12 of these representing first-of-their-kind innovations in South Korea.

Among the featured technologies was a suspension system using special polymer materials, which Hyundai Mobis claims will improve ride comfort for passengers.

A key highlight was the development of a new flat spring made from advanced composite materials, replacing the traditional metal coil spring. This suspension technology is designed to reduce the chassis module’s weight, which can enhance both handling and fuel efficiency.
