Palestinian fishermen fish at sunset from the beach of Khan Yunis camp, southern Gaza

epa11715284 Palestinian fishermen fishing at sunset from the beach of Khan Yunis camp, southern Gaza Strip, 11 November 2024. According to the UN aid coordination office OCHA, the fishing sector, which used to be a primary source of livelihoods in Gaza, has been severely impacted in over a year of conflict. Ongoing fishing restrictions, shortages of equipment and fuel, are causing thousands of fishermen to lose their livelihoods. Since October 2023, 150 fishermen have died and 87 percent of fishing boats have been damaged or destroyed, according to a report by the Palestinian NGO Network (PNGO). More than 43,600 Palestinians and over 1,400 Israelis have been killed, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry and the Israeli Army, since Hamas militants launched an attack against Israel from the Gaza Strip on 07 October 2023, and the Israeli operations in Gaza and the West Bank which followed it.
