Ukrainians who lost limbs due to Russia's invasion undergo rehabilitation at Kyiv center

epa11712695 Patients in need of prostheses undergo rehabilitation at the Orthopaedic Centre 'Unrestricted' in Kyiv, Ukraine, 30 October 2024 (issued 10 November 2024). The center, which opened in 2015, makes customized prostheses for each patient. Depending on the degree of the patient's disability and psychological state, recovery can take from three months to several years. Since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, there has been an increasing number of people needing prosthetic legs in Ukraine. Soldiers deployed on the frontline, as well as civilians working in rural areas near the front, are constantly exposed to landmines. According to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Ukraine is currently the most mined country in the world. EPA/MARIA SENOVILLA
