POSCO hosts forum to drive innovation in steel, battery materials

POSCO Group kicked off its annual tech forum on Wednesday, showcasing major technological progress across its core sectors.

Tech Forum began in 1989 and became an annual event where affiliates under the steel conglomerate gather to reveal significant technological achievements and discuss future paths for innovation.

This year’s forum marked the first in-person event in five years since the COVID-19 pandemic, bringing together in-house engineers across the group for the first time in the company’s history.

Participants explored ways to fine-tune their understanding of core technologies developed by the company, including advancements in steel and secondary battery materials.

“POSCO has kept pioneering breakthroughs through technological innovation,” said POSCO Group Chairman Jang In-hwa. “Despite uncertainties and temporary slower growth in demand, we will strive for innovation to transform the challenges into opportunities.”

The forum, which continues until Thursday, features 26 technical sessions. A new session called Special Issue Forum allows experts to focus on critical fields, such as low-carbon steel and raw materials for secondary batteries.
