Iraq's Ministry of Transport announced the first phase of multi-billion-dollar Al Faw Grand Port Project, including a five-berth container terminal with an initial capacity of 3.5 million teu per annum, will be complete by next year. Faw Port would be one of the largest ports in the world, including rail and road links through Iraq into Turkey and Europe, while Iraq has also announced the commencement of a road construction project named the 'Development Road.' which is planned to connect Iraq's ports with Turkey and subsequently extend to Europe, with the involvement of the UAE, Qatar, and Turkey in the project.
