Starting December 1, food delivery app Baedal Minjok (Baemin), operated by Woowa Brothers, will implement a new policy allowing the platform to directly cancel orders if delivered food fails to meet certain quality standards. This move is intended to prevent situations where restaurant owners unilaterally refuse or fail to respond to customer refund requests, making the refund process impossible.

According to industry sources on Monday, Baemin’s updated terms and conditions will permit the platform to cancel orders without the restaurant’s consent if specific objective issues are identified. These include cases where the delivered items do not match the order, items are missing, food is damaged or defective due to issues in preparation and packaging, packaging is poor or preparation delays occur, food is spoiled or contaminated in a way that poses health risks, or there are delivery delays without prior agreement with the customer.

While Baemin encourages customers and restaurant owners to resolve cancellations and refunds through mutual agreement, the platform will step in to cancel orders directly if these issues are objectively confirmed.
