A total of 37,000 runners took part in the 2024 JTBC Seoul Marathon event on Sunday.

Of the runners, 17,000 participated in the marathon event that finished in Jamsil, southern Seoul, and some 20,000 ran the 10-kilometer (6.20-mile) course that ended in Yeouido, western Seoul. Both courses started from Sangam World Cup Stadium in Mapo District, western Seoul.

A 26-year-old Ethiopian was the repeat champion of the race, finishing the marathon at 2 hours, 7 minutes and 37 seconds. The first and second runners-up were 30-year-old and 38-year-old Kenyans, respectively.

In the domestic men’s division, 25-year-old Park Min-ho won and replaced the national record by completing the race at 2 hours, 13 minutes and 6 seconds.

“Victory at the 2024 JTBC Seoul Marathon overwhelmed me, and it made me think that I am capable of running and challenging myself,” Park said.

Choi Jeong-yoon, whose record was 2 hours, 31 minutes and 55 seconds, won the domestic women’s division title.

The 2024 JTBC Seoul Marathon was co-organized by the JoongAng Group’s broadcaster JTBC, the group’s subsidiary Runable and the Korea Association of Athletics Federations.
