Kakao Entertainment, Fuji TV and Playlist have joined forces to coproduce a short-form drama adaptation of Kakao Entertainment’s webtoon and novel “Secretary Undercover” (2021).
The collaboration was announced at Fuji TV's global business presentation on Oct. 31 during the Tokyo International Film Festival (Tiffcom). This marks Kakao Entertainment's second partnership with Fuji TV, following their adaptation of “Aquaman” (2020).
The two companies first signed a business agreement at Tiffcom last year to develop and expand their webtoon IP. Their initial joint project, the adaptation of “Aquaman,” is set to broadcast on Fuji TV and its streaming platform, FOD, in 2026.
"We hope that this collaboration will not only enhance content production but also contribute to cultural exchange and the growth of the creative industry between Korea and Japan," said Hwang Jae-heon, head of the intellectual property business center at Kakao Entertainment. "Kakao Entertainment will continue to expand its IP business globally by utilizing its extensive IP resources in various formats."
