Gangwon to host job fair connecting international students with local employers

Gangwon will hold a job fair for international students on Thursday, with companies conducting interviews and government organizations offering information to help students in the job searching process.

Gangwon will hold a job fair for international students on Thursday, with companies conducting interviews and government organizations offering information to help students in the job searching process.

The job fair will be held at the Legoland Korea Resort in Chuncheon, Gangwon.

A total of 15 companies, including Danjoung Bio and cosmetics firm Welcos, will participate to conduct job interviews. Around 150 international students, who registered through their Office of International Affairs, are expected to attend from universities such as Gangneung-Wonju National University, Catholic Kwandong University and Hallym University.

This marks Gangwon’s second international student job fair, following the first event held in June in Goseong.

In addition to interviews, attendees will receive guidance on the F-2-R regional specialized residency visa and other work visas, along with resume feedback sessions.

The Gangwon Regional Office of SMEs and Startups will also provide resources, including information on job listing websites and services for international students.

The province has further incentivized local companies to hire international students by offering subsidies of up to 500,000 won ($360) to companies based in Gangwon that hire recent graduates from regional universities to assist with work visa applications. This program began in September and will run through Nov. 8.

"Creating employment opportunities is crucial for international students aiming to settle down after graduation, and we hope this job fair will help them seize these opportunities and find motivation," said Park Yu-sik, head of the province's Future Strategy Department. "We will continue developing policies to support talented international students in establishing a future in the region."
