Seoul National University announced Wednesday it will continue its partnership with Cosmax in cosmetics technology research, with the company investing 6 billion won ($4.3 million).
The university and Cosmax signed a memorandum of understanding to fund the Seoul National University-Cosmax Technology Incubation Center over the next five years, focusing on cosmetics technology advancements and enhancing production efficiency.
The center’s research will target areas including skin aging mechanisms, oxidation prevention for retinol and vitamin C and transdermal delivery methods.
This collaboration began in 2019, leading to 21 patent applications and nine approvals, with technologies applied in 57 products, such as Cosmax's ultrathin galvanic mask and customized ion patches.
"Through this partnership, Seoul National University and Cosmax will not only lead innovations in the beauty industry, but also work on cultural technology research, helping Korean culture expand globally," said Kim Sung-jae, a professor at the university and head of research at the Seoul National University-Cosmax Technology Incubation Center.
