The Korean music chart platform Circle Chart, formerly known as the Gaon Music Chart, will include Chinese music platform Tencent Music's data on K-pop into its "Global K-pop Chart" starting in November.
The two platforms have been collaborating on retail album charts since February, "reflecting the growing demand for K-pop in China," according to Circle Chart.
A separate chart dubbed “Social Chart 2.0” will also be introduced to measure K-pop artists' global fame using real-time data. The companies have not yet released a timeline for the social chart.
“By collaborating with Tencent Music, Circle Chart will now reflect K-pop's popularity in China,” Circle Chart's chief planner Choi Kwang-ho said in the press release. “This will solidify Circle Chart's position as a big data hub for K-pop, providing more accurate global data.”
Circle Chart has been actively expanding its global data partnerships, having previously formed official data partnerships with YouTube in 2020, TikTok and Spotify in 2021 and Apple Music in 2022.
Tencent Music is currently in partnership with some other global music platforms like QQ Music, Kugou Music, KUWO Music, Bodian Music and JOOX.
