Executives at SK Innovation will start working on Saturday from next month as part of the oil company's plan to fortify its competitiveness and respond swiftly to global risks.
On Sunday, the company said it informed its executives of "Connecting Day," in which they come to the office every Saturday to check up on the latest issues and share ideas.
It is not mandatory, according to the company, but most likely the executives will all follow the new measure amid a strong rebalancing effort within the group.
SK Group revived its biweekly Saturday meeting for top executives at key affiliates for the first time in 24 years early this year.
It also replaced CEOs of underperforming SK Innovation affiliates — SK Geocentric, SK IE Technology and SK Energy — last week to fortify its competitiveness.
Samsung Electronics also initiated a six-day workweek in April this year for executives at key affiliates including Samsung SDI and Samsung Display.
