Decorating trend expands to shoes, bags, tumblers

What started as a popular trend among teens and young adults, known as “dakku” (decorating diaries), has now spread to older age groups in their 30s and 40s. The trend has also expanded beyond diaries, with consumers decorating shoes, bags, and even tumblers.

Home shopping platform CJ OnStyle reported on Thursday that recent broadcasts featuring shoe and bag brands have led to a surge in sales of related decorative accessories. One notable example is a mobile live show on September 24th, 2024, where decorative items such as ribbons and beads were sold alongside sneakers. All accessory items featured during the show sold out.

Similarly, a “bagkku” or bag decorating event held on September 10th for designer bag brand Fibreno revealed that about 10 percent of total orders included accessories like keyrings.

Contemporary brand LEGODT has also embraced the trend by launching a tumkku or tumbler decoration package, bundling tumblers with beads and keyrings to attract consumers seeking creative ways to personalize everyday items.
