Animal welfare charity appeals 'Frankenchicken' law at High Court in London

Animal welfare charities are appealing a legal challenge against Defra (Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs) over the farming of fast-growing ?Frankenchickens?, which can grow over 2kg in weight in five to six weeks. According to the The Humane League group, these chickens account for around 90% of the 1.1 billion chickens slaughtered for meat per year in the country, and that these animals suffer as a result of their breed.
