Samsung SDI Co. is showcasing its full lineup of mobility batteries and enhanced safety technologies at the 2024 International Future Auto & Mobility Expo kicking off at the Exhibition & Convention Center (EXCO) in Daegu on Wednesday, the South Korean battery maker said.

The company unveiled its next-generation products, such as solid-state batteries, 46-pi cylindrical batteries, as well as lithium iron phosphate plus (LFP+) and cobalt-free (NMX) batteries. It began supplying samples of solid-state batteries to customers at the end of 2023 and plans to begin mass production of the 46-pi cylindrical battery for micro-mobility in early 2025.

The company also exhibited a variety of mobility battery products currently in mass production at the event, including the P6 (6th-generation prismatic battery) and 21700 cylindrical batteries. A cell-to-pack (CTP) concept pack that enables higher energy density and cost savings in the same volume by removing modules, was also unveiled along with videos highlighting enhanced safety technologies.

To help visitors‘ understanding, the company also showcased mobility applications such as the BMW iX electric car, e-scooter, and e-bike at the event.

“Samsung SDI is leading the global battery market with its cutting-edge technological competitiveness and top-quality products,” Samsung SDI CEO Choi Yoon-ho said. “We will continue to stay ahead in the future mobility market by ensuring the timely mass production of next-generation products, such as solid-state batteries and 46-pi cylindrical batteries.”
