Volunteer establishes a free private school in Afghanistan

epa11664421 Children attend a class conducted by Afghan educator Abdul Qader Pasoon at a makeshift private school in the Nahr Siraj district of Helmand province, Afghanistan, on 16 October  2024 (issued 17 October 2024). Through Pasoon's financial contributions, the school was established due to a lack of education that has persisted for two decades in Helmand due to ongoing conflicts. The school currently accommodates 200 students, including 70 girls, providing both religious and modern education for free. As a result of Pasoon's efforts, residents acknowledged the urgent need for educational facilities in the area, where more than 2,000 children are still unable to receive a quality education. Despite the lack of schools in Helmand, education officials are working to improve access to education. EPA/QUDRATULLAH RAZWAN
