Convenience store chain GS25 announced on Monday that it has introduced new features to its half-price parcel service, including QR code-based parcel registration and a self-entry system for recipients.

The half-price parcel service, launched in 2019, allows customers to send and receive packages through GS25 stores at about half the cost of regular courier services.

GS25 expects the total number of users to surpass 40 million by the end of this month.

As part of its service upgrade, GS25 added a QR quick registration feature earlier this month.

Customers can scan a QR code at store terminals, weigh their package, and complete the parcel registration process instantly.

QR codes can be generated after booking through the GS Postbox mobile app or website.

GS25 also introduced a recipient self-entry function.

When a sender books a parcel, they can send a link to the recipient, allowing them to input their delivery details directly.

GS25 expects this feature to improve privacy protection and prevent errors when dealing with unknown recipients, such as in second-hand transactions.

The new features are designed to enhance user convenience and personal data security, GS25 said.
