Crown Haitai Confectionery Co. announced on Sunday that it successfully wrapped up the 19th Changsinje Festival, a music event celebrating gugak, or traditional Korean music, and modern performances.

The Changsinje Festival, which was held from October 11 to 13 at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts in Seoul, is the largest gugak festival organized by a private company.

Crown Haitai Confectionery has been hosting the event since 2004.

This year’s performances included a variety of traditional acts, such as “Gilnori,” a street parade traditionally performed before major events, and “Sujecheon,” a classical piece that evolved from the Baekje-era song “Jeongeupsa.”

The performances were met with enthusiastic responses from the audience. Talented young gugak performers also graced the stage alongside master musicians.

“This festival preserves our nation’s traditional culture and forms while offering a modern reinterpretation,” said Crown Haitai Confectionery CEO Yoon Young-dal.
