World Mental Health Day in Hyderabad

World Mental Health Day is celebrated on October 10. According to WHO, the theme for 2024 is 'Mental Health at Work'. This theme emphasises the crucial role of addressing mental health and well-being in the workplace, benefiting not only individuals but also organisations and communities as a whole. The Sir Cowasji Jehangir Institute was established in 1865 by a Parsi family and caters to patients suffering from mental disorders, from Sindh as well as Balochistan provinces. Despite all efforts and donations, the institute still lacks resources. The patients suffer from mental illness, including schizophrenia and have been put into the institute by their relatives. Their survival depends on the institute which provides medicine, food and clothing. EPA/NADEEM KHAWAR
