Girl group NewJeans will cover Billboard Korea’s inaugural “Billboard Artist” magazine, which is set to be released on Oct. 25, according to the company on Thursday.
The cover, shot by photographer Elina Kechicheva, features the members of NewJeans leaning against a tree amid billowing smoke. The accompanying editorial delves into the group's profound impact on the music industry, drawing parallels between NewJeans and the influential “Paninari” youth culture of 1980s in Milan, according to Billboard Korea.
"NewJeans has the unique ability to evoke nostalgia for the past, appreciation for the present and anticipation for the future," said Billboard Korea’s creative director Woo Lee. "Its ability to resonate with a diverse range of generations and cultures makes them a truly contemporary act.”
Since its debut in July 2022, NewJeans has rapidly ascended to global stardom with hits like "Attention" (2022), "Ditto" (2022), "ETA" (2023) and "OMG" (2023).
The band made its debut in Japan with its single "Supernatural" on June 21 and filled the Tokyo Dome for its meet and greet event, "Bunnies Camp 2024 Tokyo Dome," held on June 26 and 27.
The group has been nominated for the Best K-pop category at MTV Europe Music Awards for two consecutive years.
