OHCHR urges Israel to ensure access of Palestinians to their lands during olive harvest season

Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) on 25 September called for the protection of Palestinian farmers and their right to safely access their land as the olive harvest approaches in the West Bank. OHCHR statement said the 2023 harvest season, which occurred in the aftermath of Hamas militants attack against Israel from the Gaza Strip of 07 October, was affected by intensified Israeli restrictions and sharp increase in settler violence, which resulted in destroying livelihoods. According to UN data, as a result, more than 96,000 dunums of olive-cultivated lands across the West Bank remained unharvested, causing the estimated loss of 1,200 metric tons of olive oil and 10 million USD damage EPA/HAITHAM IMAD
