Hong Kong is set to mark the 10th anniversary of the Umbrella Movement, a pro-democracy movement that began on 28 September 2014, when police used tear gas to disperse demonstrators demanding transparent elections. The protests led to a 79-day occupation, bringing the city to a standstill, with demonstrators calling for the right to elect their own leaders and greater autonomy from Beijing.
