Samsung Electronics Co. and Hyundai Motor Group are collaborating to improve in-vehicle connectivity.

The two companies signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Wednesday in Seoul to collaborate on software-defined vehicles (SDV) and Samsung’s internet-of-things platform, SmartThings. The agreement primarily aims to integrate Samsung‘s SmartThings platform into Hyundai’s SDVs.

Samsung plans to deliver a unique user experience by connecting SmartThings with Hyundai’s next-generation in-vehicle infotainment systems currently in development. Hyundai is focused on creating a user-centered environment in collaboration with 42dot Inc and an open ecosystem for its infotainment system.

Initial features will include the ability for users to locate vehicles and smart keys via SmartThings Find, a location tracking solution. Users will be able to find their vehicle with a Galaxy smartphone, without the need for a 4G or 5G network connection.
