The International Intellectual Property Training Institute under the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO), in collaboration with Naver’s education center, announced the launch of a new online educational course, “Practical Guide to Intellectual Property Rights,” from Wednesday onwards. The course will be available on both the National Intellectual Property Education Portal and Naver Business School, offering e-commerce business owners essential knowledge on intellectual property (IP) rights to help them avoid potential disputes.

Developed through a partnership between KIPO and Naver, the course is designed to assist small business owners who sell products on e-commerce platforms such as Naver’s Smart Store. The goal is to provide them with the tools and knowledge necessary to conduct their businesses without getting entangled in IP-related legal issues.

The program takes a proactive approach, allowing participants to access the education they need on the platform of their choice. Naver provided real-world dispute examples reported to its rights protection center, while the KIPO analyzed these cases to create practical prevention and response strategies.

The course consists of four key sections: frequent dispute types, major areas of conflict, prevention of rights violations, and methods for protecting one’s own IP rights. It covers fundamental knowledge of trademarks, design rights, and copyrights while focusing on specific IP elements relevant to e-commerce businesses. It also aims to help business owners prevent disputes and respond effectively should conflicts arise.
