Preparations for the second phase of state elections in India

For the first time in ten years, elections for the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly are being held. These are also the first elections in the region since the Indian constitution repealed Article 370 and Article 35-A, which had given the region semi-autonomous status. Elections take place in three phases under tight security arrangements, with the second phase being held on 25 September and the final poll scheduled for 01 October 2024, with the results announced on 08 October 2024.
