Genesis GV70
Hyundai Motor Group’s Genesis has secured the highest crash safety rating for its GV70 and the electric model in the United States.

According to Hyundai Motor Group on Sunday, the Genesis GV70 and its electric variant received the Top Safety Pick Plus (TSP+) rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and Highway Loss Data Institute (IIHS-HLDI) crash tests.

The IIHS-HLDI, a U.S. nonprofit organization founded in 1959, annually evaluates the crash safety performance of vehicles released in the U.S. market.

Alongside the European New Car Assessment Programme, the IIHS safety rating is regarded as a critical standard in the global auto industry.

Earlier this year, Genesis’ electric sport utility vehicle GV60, along with the electric G80 model and GV80, received the TSP+ rating, followed by the G80 and G90 in April.

With the latest addition of the GV70 and its electric version, a total of seven Genesis models now hold the TSP+ rating, placing Genesis ahead of second-place Mazda Motor Corp. (with six models) and tying with third-place Honda Motor Co. and Hyundai Motor Co. (both with four models).

This achievement is particularly noteworthy as the IIHS strengthened its crash test criteria this year, implementing new, stricter standards for rear-seat passenger protection and pedestrian collision prevention systems.

In response to these new standards, Genesis has equipped all models sold in the U.S. this year with advanced safety features as standard.

These include seven driving safety assistance systems, such as forward, rear, and cross-traffic collision prevention, driver attention warning, and lane-keeping assist.
